Hi, I’m a complete techphobe when it comes to tvs. Can someone help? can I connect my current cables to the tv to get freeview on 2016 Samsung smart tv. Is it as simple as buying an adapter? Would it be 1 male to 2 female adapter like this one? https://www.amazon.co.uk/High-Quality-Coaxial-Aerial-Splitter-White/dp/B004BLU4IWPic is what currently connects to sky box but getting rid of the sky q box.
Thanks

Those are satellite connectors, you won't get Freeview on those. If the TV has a single one of those you may be able to get Freesat, or some form of Freesat which may not be Freesat depending on the TV.Do you have a TV aerial? Ideally outdoor but indoor can work as well. No aerial, no Freeview (not directly anyway).2

I think I have an Ariel, there is one of these in the kitchen (the pic) as they had a tv in there before we moved in. I tried to test it on the tv but the cable is too short so I couldn’t plug it in.

You can get short cables with the correct ends on ready made to extend those, no more than a few quid (any more and and you have been done). That is assuming that connector is correctly made up and there is an aerial on the end that is in good working order.
How far does it need to go?
I tend to make mine up for the exact distance I need to avoid cable spaghetti.0 -
my Ariel in the kitchen cannot get any TV , though it does wash whiter than white .

Get an aerial company in and have new coax run. It'll be worth it in the end.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

Just because you have a lead with a co-ax cable does not mean you have an aerial on the other end of it, have you tried looking outside or in the loft for an actual aerial.1

what you need is a Freesat box - search on Amazon. The two antenna cables plug into that, and then you use HDMI to connect the box to the TV.
You can buy recordable (in which case you can record TV programs like you could on Sky) or non-recordable.1 -

I think i've figured out my current options without getting an engineer in are just watch online on the smart tv or get a freesat box but only one that is 4K and compatiable with a sky q adjusted dish which is £200 and then if i move, risk it doesn't work. Thanks for everyones help.cx6 said:what you need is a Freesat box - search on Amazon. The two antenna cables plug into that, and then you use HDMI to connect the box to the TV.
