Garage shelving?

Not shelving, as such - and needs a bit of luck. But most of my garage is taken up with kitchen units. Had a mate who was getting a new kitchen, so I took all his old cupboards and worktops, basically rebuilt it in my garage. It's the business :-) And it cost me nowt apart from a few quid's worth of petrol to make a couple of trips to his house to collect it. Might be worth thinking about, especially if you happen to have any neighbours who are talking about replacing their kitchen....Aside from that I've just got some cheap 'n' cheerful metal shelving units that - I think - were bought from Argos. They're still going strong after at least 15 years.0

I've got these in my garage - buy four or more and the price comes tumbling down: https://www.screwfix.com/p/5-tier-steel-heavy-duty-shelving-900-x-450-x-1800mm/2817r
I did spot both Lidl and Aldi have recently stocked similar for a similar price (£25 ish a unit). That £100 with Wickes is an obscene price for what is essentially the same item.0 -
We've got some of the bigdug ones and they seem rock solid.

We have the bigdug ones and have changed the boarding for OSB3, strong and hasn't curled up in 4-5 years.0

We have some in the garage which came from Costco. They're rock solid - I seem to recall the documentation including some Californian certification saying they were earthquake-proof. If anything they're probably a bit over the top. They will last a lifetime.
In the shed, we didn't have so much heavy stuff to store. We've got the cheapest BigDug ones in there. The price was very low and the quality is what you'd expect: thin metal and chipboard shelves. They do the job perfectly well. I fully expect them to last a lifetime too - as long as the shed stays dry inside.

Everything from Ikea comes with good instructions!Mimi_Arc_en_ciel said:Never even thought of argos or Ikea!!! I tried the "Usual" Suspects
I wouldn't be able to build anything my self..... Unless it has precise instructions, Its a fail!!
Thanks very much!0 -
Ikea Ivar - always plenty on Facebook marketplace and Ebay. There are two heights and two depths, so just be careful of sizes when ordering bits & pieces. Also worth checking Freegle & other sites.0
