Garage shelving?

Hi,

I am wanting to buy something similar to this: https://www.wickes.co.uk/Rb-Boss-5-Tier-Wood-Shelving-Kit---1800-x-900-x-400mm-250kg-Udl/p/150443

But some of the reviews (Checked a few websites) are not great.

Can anyone recommend anywhere to buy something similar from? Its for a garage so general tools/bits and bobs

Thanks

I have 4 lots of the composite shelving that you can buy from Argos / Screwfix etc and more than happy with it - just be sensible with how you place things e.g. heavy items on lower shelves and at the sides rather than the middle.

Sorry I can't think of anything profound, clever or witty to write here.

Have you thought about building your own from 2x1? It may cost a little more but it'll be much sturdier, take more weight and can be built to the size you need. I've built a couple in my cellar and screw the back of the frame to the wall to keep everything solid. I've got all my tools etc on them and they are really strong. I just used 2x1 planed wood and a box of 2" screws
  • Hejne from Ikea.  It’s the cheaper cousin of their Ivar system.  We’ve found it really good, very sturdy.
  • Never even thought of argos or Ikea!!! I tried the "Usual" Suspects

I wouldn't be able to build anything my self..... Unless it has precise instructions, Its a fail!!

    Thanks very much!

Try Machine Mart - They have a number of different shelving solutions that may do the job.

We filled our storage room at work with these, and then I got two sets (six units) for my garage too after seeing them:

Just over £100 for three units (plus delivery). You'll worry they're flimsy as you assemble them but once constructed they're totally solid. I haven't tested the claimed 200kg load per shelf though - that seems a lot?!

No affiliation, I promise, just been really impressed. Considerably cheaper than a lone shelving unit we got from B&Q years back.

Without a doubt - try Lidl. Two of those for £50. I bought two sets at the weekend and they are really good. They were from last weeks leaflet though so get down there sooner rather than later.

My garage is full of these; they're pretty decent but the larger sheets have absorped a bit of moisture from the air and warped pretty heavily.
  • Personally got 3x of these with Chipboard shelves from Screwfix and love them! And the price was cheap as chips.

Sadly they don't sell the Chipboard shelf version now (//www.screwfix.com/p/5-tier-steel-heavy-duty-shelving-900-x-450-x-1800mm/631pk)
