Is anyone able to give me information regarding the UK installation cost and actual running costs
I had a telephone call and agreed to an appointment on Thursday.  I am elderly and concerned about possible pressure to purchase .
Ideally I would like to cancel that appointment so that I could find out more about the system etc. Currently I have economy 7 storage heaters.
Advice would be appreciated.
Thanks Sue

Sounds like you are right to be concerned. Can you cancel the appointment, and get proper advice before you meet, if at all? I know nothing about Fischer, but i know there is a debate about the efficiency and
    effectiveness of their systems.

Run away as quickly as you can. Cancel the appointment.
Ignore the thread title, they are *not* storage heaters in the generally understood sense. They're more like an oil-filled radiator.
Installation costs seem to be "whatever the salesman thinks he can get out of you".
There are some thoughts (OK, my thoughts) on running costs at the end of that thread (link).

Cancel the appointment and dont let him into the house.

As QrizB says, they are not storage heaters, they do not take advantage of  cheap overnight electricty and they are very expensive to run as they use full price peak rate electricty.

As said, the installation costs also tend to be a work of fantasy. They have several judgments against them from the Advertising Standards Authority for misrepresenting what they are and making extravagant claims.

It's generally pensioners and the elderly who get conned into installing them on the pretext of saving costs - they dont

Susan, I can appreciate the situation that you are in. Cancel the appointment if you can, but that might not stop an intrepid salesman from turning up at the door. Do you have access to a partner/friend etc that can help should the need arise?

Thank you all so much.. My gut instinct is what made me post on here.  I am elderly 79 and widowed.  I'm  just scared of being put under pressure and although I am pretty strong I just don't want to put myself in that situation.
Thanks for the link to a previous post.  I really appreciate it

Cancel, tell them you have to go out and if the doorbell does ring, don’t answer it.

Good decision Susan and don't let them push you into continuing with the survey when you telephone them to cancel .
