I admit if the OP couldn't prove an overdue cambelt had been done I'd either want a reduction in cost to reflect that or I'd walk away so I sympathise with their situation.

    FSH means nothing..
If the selling dealer sells the car & provides proof of a service that is FSH as far as the dealer is concerned.

Which is why I suggested a fair outcome for OP might be for the dealer to carry out, or fund, a new service and cambelt change.  Then OP has the assurance it's done.

My daughter works for BCA and the standard compensation for a car that has had the service history incorrectly described before selling is £400.

vehicle is over 10 years old so there is absolutely 0 value in a service history. By the time the OP comes to sell what sort of mileage will it have and as long as he can prove he's serviced it yearly that's all a potential buyer will be concerned with not any previous history.
