Hi
I wonder if anyone can tell me what data allowance a free Vodafone PAYG sim comes with before topping up? I want to check 4G coverage in my area?
Many thanks

Well as you have to pay for the service in advance, the answer is.. nothing until you get some credit on the account. You can get the SIM for free, you don't get any data for free (unless you found a bundle somewhere).

I've had Smarty and Three sims in the recent past that came with 200 mb free which is enough to test the connection. That's what I'm wanting to do.Cheers

Try ASDA mobile (voda) seem to think they give you 100mb free with their SIMssheffieldeagle said:Neil_Jones said:Well as you have to pay for the service in advance, the answer is.. nothing until you get some credit on the account. Much appreciated I will take a look.

Pretty sure the speed test in the Vodafone app is zero rated. So you could use wi-fi and only switch mobile data on before you do the speed test. But, as this is Vodafone’s own speed test you’d need to be sure that you trusted the app.1

@PHK My Vodaphone app will only run speed test (and other functionality) when a registered Vodafone sim is active in the phone.
Good point about data being used in speed tests, managed to burn through 20 quids-worth of PAYG data checking out a new 5g sim in just a couple of tests (not Vodafone).1 -
Thanks for that guys. Wouldn't have thought about the app

The Asda PAYG sim finally arrived but unfortunately there does not seem to be any free data to test the 4G connection.Cheers0
