I have been informed by a friend
( not the company) that I have won a sum of money from the above. Google names them as a genuine company but one which is often used for scams. Anyone heard of them ?

Have you entered?
If not, you can't possibly have won!2 -
How does your friend know?
Why would they notify them and not you?1 -
Is this a warning , if so lets have more details .

Does your 'win' require you to take out a subscription, or join something, or pay out any sum of money? If so, its a scam.

The notification came from a very old friend via Facebook complete with his profile . I became suspicion so asked him if he still followed Manchester United. He said he did which proved false as my friend is s Lifetime CITY fan . I contacted his wife who knew nothing about their "good fortune" or the Facebook friend request. As I have entered nothing and therefore cannot win I did not fill in the application form sent to me and blocked both sites0

I didn't let it get that far . As soon as they failed my test I contacted my friends wife who knew nothing about it. I blocked both sites.0

Yes.
This is another newbie who is (understandably) confused by the 'Create Post' button.
I've reported this to MSE on the feedback board.
I'm not the only one.

I'm guessing this friend was on Facebook or Facebook messenger?
Publishers clearing house have been taking people's money for years now.
I got a message from a friend on Facebook messenger asking how I was doing. Seemed pretty authentic so I said I was doing fine and how was he. His response came back saying he was loving retirement and had just bought a brand new motorhome, which immediately triggered suspicion as he always believed that people who were into carvanning and motorhoming shouldn't be allowed to breathe the same air as him!
I just carried on chatting and it wasn't log before publisher's clearing house got a mention.
And so ended the chat. His account had been hacked.
As Jimbo6977 said earlier you'll never win something you haven't entered.
PCH is a legitimate company but their methods on preying on the financially vulnerable are very questionable to say the least.1
