Well, its all done & dusted & I'm sat here in my PJ's enjoying a sit down at last....my 1st all day! Little feet are not made to stand up in high-heeled boots all day, even if they are demonstrating the joys of stuffed potato skins with leftover veggies!:rotfl:
The production team arrived bang on time & were really really lovely : Laura the researcher who I have been spaking with on the phone, she was just so sweet & helpful; Ray the producer/camerman who was so calming & friendly (and promised not to film either my dirty carpets or unflattering angles of my bum!); Guy, erm....am embarassed to admit I'm not actully sure what he did as I didn't see him doing anything apart from chatting to my hubby all afternoon, but he was also lovely; Ruth the interviewer who was just a scream, and so thin that I am totally envious & determined never to eat again!.
This morning was all camera shots of me doing money saving things : cleaning the windows with vinegar, stoking the fire with wood, surfing ebay, counting coins, loading the washing machine etc. Admitedly hardly riviting stuff but I am confident it will be edited down to about 5 seconds of household chores as an intro to me/ the segment. Oh, and the obligatory obviously embarassingley uncomfortable shot of me standing outside my house, whilst drivers went past hooting:rolleyes:
This afternoon was Ruth talking to me & asking money saving questions about what I was doing; she was playing devils advocate a bit & saying things like "surely that can't save that much?" so that I could explain how it was in fact economical. Soapnuts, vinegar & menu planning all featured. Nothing new to OS'ers but might open a latent OS'ers eyes to the possabilites I guess. Unfortunatley everything had to be very succinct & too the point so I couldn't say nearly as much as I wanted, when cooking stuff I would have loved to have said something about using re-usable tupperware instead of disposable cling film, and when using the washing machine saying that 30 degree short washes save on fuel costs whilst still washing adequately etc. And I didn't get an opportunity to mention that I was wearing charity shop trousers that had originally started out as cream but I had dyed black when I couldn't find any black jeans in my size, or that I was wearing hand-me-down jewellery.. I fear that regular OS'ers, or in fact anyone with a bit of common sense, aren't going to learn anything spectacular, but it was a really fun day & I suprised myself by actually enjoying it.
The plan is that it will be broken down over 3 programmes into a money-saving tips segment (assuming they weren't just being polite & I didn't look like a complete nerd on camera that is:o.) I don't know when they will be aired yet but I'll post when I do and Laura has promised me stuido tickets to one of the episodes.
So my advice to anyone who is approached to do similar, go for it,. the crew make it really easy on you, and I will probably be dining out on the experience for a week or 2!
