How to get rid of an inherited 19kg British Gas propane cylinder!

Hi All,
My first post, but have been avidly reading for ages. So, really grateful for any advice, I've a 19kg British Gas propane cylinder that was in my garage when I bought my house (4 yrs ago) - I want to get rid of it (in case relevant- I'd say either empty or nearly so from memory of lugging Calor gas cylinders). I contacted British Gas via Twitter and ultimately got a number to call to arrange collection - however, I can't get anywhere with this number because it required my Account number and I am not a BG customer. I have tried the Liquid Gas UK's main contact point to ask if there is anyone in my area, Bracknell, Berkshire that I can contact, but not got back so far. Really grateful for any advice, please? Thank you.

Facebook marketplace is a good place for all sorts of stuff1

Take it to your local Council Recycling site. Mine has a caged area for old cylinders.0

Take it to a Calor dealer (or someone who sells Calor gas) or thecouncil recycling centre.
However for minimum effort, just leave it on your front drive, someone will come and nick itNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers1 -

I was wondering how to take my old washing nmachine to the recycling centre (it wouldn't easily fit into my Fiat Panda) but within the week it had vanished from my drive (the washing machine, not the Panda). If you want it to go sooner, stick a sign on it saying "Free".Edit:if I was closer I'd offer to take it; I could do with a new BBQ:

Google tells me that a Flogas company in Colchester/Braintree https://www.gssgas.co.uk/what-bottle-brands-do-you-accept-as-part-of-an-exchange lists BG cylinders are acceptable returns / exchanges ...
Try your Flogas retailer to see if they're the same (tho they mayn't be overly keen to collect an empty without a sale of gas). https://www.unit42onlinestore.com/flogas
But the leave out near the road for a few days may be the simplest way?0 -
Thanks very much - sounds like a good lead. Don't have a drive, just a shared area, nowhere I can safely leave it - also live in a cul-de-sac! Going to try FloGas. Have a friend out that way I've not seen for a while, too!
