Keeping email address

I have been with BT for many years, and my email address ends in btopenworld.com
I am reluctant to lose this address but I would like to change service provider as BT is quite expensive.
Am I able to keep this email address if I change provider?
Many thanks

I wouldn't have thought so because you would no longer be using their email service, but I might be wrong.1

I have a feeling that BT charge you something if you want to continue to use their email address and therefore email servers.0

AFAIK BT charge you £7.50 per month to keep your old email address. I've spent the past few years changing my address to a gmail one, but my husband is a dinosaur and is sticking to the bt one... guess it will be HIM paying the £7.50!
see BT to charge some £7.50/mth for email - here's how to beat the hikes (moneysavingexpert.com)#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3660 -
Start to transfer to a non ISP owned email service now . Its not difficult to let all know your new address .BT do want circa £7.50 a month for you to keep using their email servers .BUT check with BT members community forum for clued up up to date answer .0

Many thanksCough up £7.50 a month or something like that and you can.Otherwise... Gmail/Yahoo/Outlook.com are ISP independent and you can move provider until the cows come home and still keep that Gmail/Yahoo/Outlook.com address.0 -
I would like to move from Talk talk when my contract ends but they charge 5 per month to keep my email address. II have had this address for nearly 20 years and it is not easy to change as so many accounts are linked to this and I would not remember to change them all. And once you no longer have the address you can't recover if you have forgotten your password.0

I feel your pain, I've had my main Hotmail address for over 20 years. So continue to pay Talk Talk for email for, say, six months but begin to swap your accounts to a new, free email service (Gmail, Outlook, AOL, etc). Do this as you receive emails from services with which you are registered at your TT email address. Also get yourself a password manager so that forgetting passwords/duplicating passwords is no longer an issue.
EDIT: Just read here
https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/team-blog/2021/11/is-your-broadband-email-address-costing-you-p100s-yr-/
that you should get free email from Talk Talk for two years after ending contract0
