PIP(personal indepence benefit) in Gibraltar

Hi everyone.
We have taken the decision on moving to Gibraltar at the end of November.
We shall definitely going for a year. and then see what happens after that.
We have family over there and want to take a year out after stresses, and re-evaluating things during Covid!
Obviously she will still need certain amount of support over there, and we hope she can still claim it, which would really help us out.
My wife current gets a monthly PIP payment of £60. I am wondering if this is transferable to Gibraltar as it is a British overseas territory.
She has paid her national insurance and tax for 30+ years(if that makes a difference)
Any advice would be much appreciated
Regards

Note that - "Gibraltar - for everything except healthcare and child benefits, the UK applies the EC Regulations to Gibraltar as though it is another EEA country. Other EEA countries treat Gibraltar as though it is part of the UK."
I'm not entirely clear about the consequences of Brexit on the exportability of disability benefits, so I would suggest you"Contact the Disability Benefits Exportability Team about Disability Living Allowance, Attendance Allowance and Personal Independence Payment."

I don't know the answer to your question but just wanted to point this out that for PIP, paying your NI and tax for all those years makes no difference.

UKNomad50s said:Moving to Gibraltar for a year sounds like a great plan, especially with family already there. When it comes to benefits like PIP, rules can be complex, and eligibility for UK payments abroad depends on various factors. It’s always best to check with experts who deal with residency and financial matters in Gibraltar. GibraltarResidency.co.uk is a good resource for guidance on these kinds of questions.I hope you had a smooth move!
