O/S Daily Thursday 30 September 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, dry but, temperature has really dropped.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and I'm enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was egg, bacon, sausage, beans and mushrooms. Tonight I'm not sure what we'll be having.
Yesterday work was busy but ok. Not sure what to expect today - we'll see.
Our telephone appointment went ok, so hopefully that is now being sorted out and we can move forward with that it. We have to wait for the next bit now.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all.
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
We're awake early this morning, I'm not sure what is happening on the opposite bank but it's lit up like Blackpool illuminations and shining straight through our window, Steve closed the curtains and has gone back to sleep.
We are forecast rain this afternoon so I'll make sure Beano gets a long walk this morning.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.13 -
Morning Everyone
Thanks for the start nmlc, hope your day isn't too manic.
Dark and very wet this morning, we didn't go for a walk today, will go later if it's dry. Washing on the pulley, glad I didn't put it out yesterday as there were some sharp showers in the afternoon. I was hoping to cut the hedge but that will have to wait for a dry day now.
Not much going on here, I'll have to start to clear the living room as the decorator is coming next week, large furniture can stay in there and be covered but there are shelves to empty and pictures to remove. New curtains arrived yesterday, the old ones can go upstairs in the children's bedroom as there are only very thin ones up there at the moment.
Should be having a haircut this afternoon but not sure if the hairdresser is coming here or I'm going to her new garden salon, should hear from her later.
Hope everyone's well, take care. XX

Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC, hope you have a good day at work.Starting to get light here, it looks wet out there.Yesterday turned out differently to expectations here, Dd rang about 9.30am to ask if we'd collect the children from nursery/school, they were going to go down to their static caravan to empty it, they'd had a really good offer from the site owners. (they had been looking to sell it)It's a long story and has been going on fro a while, but suffice it to say they've sold it and their house is now full of stuff, but it's done.I don't know if we'll see dgs today, we normally do on a Thursday, he doesn't go to nursery, but he seemed a little bit off colour yesterday afternoon, DD said he'd been fine when she left him at nursery.Don't know what today has in store for us - if I can help DD in any way I will. otherwise i'll just do the usual jobs here.We still haven't been able to buy any fuel for the car, there is a garage nearby that is still open, but their prices are high, so DH is holding out for a while.Bella, you seem to have been away for ages! hope you enjoyed your holiday and are ok, you're busy as usual I see.Hope everyone has a good day, thinking of Nelski, and Marie, and other poorly people.Take care folks14

Morning folks and thanks NMLC Bloomin' heck my phone said we were down to single figures when I got up this morning. I'm glad I had swapped my lightweight dressing gown for my big snuggly winter one! I've even put the heating on for a quick burst to warm the place up - I don't take kindly to having a shower in a cold bathroom.
If life had been kinder today would have been our 49th wedding anniversary.. So a day for happy and sad memories. DD has taken me out for lunch the last two years but she is working today and felt bad about it. But as our bus day was postponed until today I shall be out anyway with bestie. Our 3rd buddy is back at the fracture clinic with her poorly fingers. No doubt we will be back to Ilkley for a wander (and hopefully not much spending) We are getting set in our ways but we are guaranteed a nice lunch there with, of course, a bottle of wine and much talking.
Yesterday would have been a glorious day, with blue sky and sunshine if it hadn't been spoiled by that relenless strong wind which never seems far away these days.. I brought forward the Thursday jobs to save them joining the Friday Tidy jobs tomorrow. So the bathroom and kitchen got cleaned and floors steamed. I had a hankering for something tasty for tea so made a big pan of chilli with the remainder frozen in portions. I was a good girl and the mince was crossed off my new inventory and four portions of chilli added to it. I don't know how long this diligence will last!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, poorly loved ones and MIA. RUBY it was good to hear your employers have finally sorted you out. But grr to the manager who has never checked up on how you are doing. Take care one and all and stay safe xxx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"15 -
Morning folks.Rain pounding against my bedroom window roused me from sleep a couple of times last night though I was able to fall asleep easily each time. Time spent fiddling with the duvet paid off as I was really snug.Yesterday was a slothful as I thought it would be 😀 as I was occupied in answering a slew of emails and sending out photos of Monday evening. Not that it was taxing! I've noticed that the once a day bus into /out of town which ran past my front door has stopped. That must have happened during lockdown so I must enquire about it restarting. My only plan for today is having my flu jag tonight. The appointment is for 7.30pm 😱 so I think I'll turn on my electric blanket just before I leave, it'll run for an hour which should be perfect. All my thoughts are with our missing and poorlies. Happy Thursday to all.15

Drinking my early morning cuppa and trying to motivate myself to achieve something/anything today! Wet outside but the gardener came yesterday and cut the grass and moved a black currant and a gooseberry bush to a place I can get at. This year only the birds enjoyed the fruit.
am going to a taster session of seated mindful yoga this afternoon, physio thinks it will help my back pain and reduce my anxiety re cancer diagnosis.
Anyway best wishes to all14 -

Morning everyone
Just been having a catch up with my breakfast as I didn't get on last night.
Raining heavily this morning so I'll pedalling fast down to work - luckily it only takes 5 minutes. I have my work trousers in my bag so I can do a quick change when I get there.
Ruby - pleased work is sorted now, it must be a relief for you
Must move myself - hope everyone has a good day15 -
Morning all dog walked just having a cuppa then i will empty the DW. The window people didn't turn up and i had to call them not very satisfactory but apparently they have 3 off with covid and apologised for not calling me they thought they had !!! so maybe they will be done in a week or two not happy as its DD2s blessing next weekend with the dress and all the finery DSil in his uniform and the surveyor has had to damage all the existing windows and doors to ensure the new ones are fitted correctly so no garden photos never mind after rearranging this 4 times already its small fry in the scheme of things
Off to the hairdresser today then groomers later for the dog in-between if i spot some fuel i will be joining the queue.
Nelski thinking of you
TA Enjoy your day
Ruby Great news on the work front
Hugs to all the poorlies and those looking after them x
Have a good day whatever you are up toSlava Ukraini14 -
Hi everyone,
I'm just hanging on to the Dr's - caller number 19 at the moment. I've had atrial fibrillation for about 12 years - after investigation it was put down as one of those things and I just had to live with it. It's been quite bad the last few days so I thought I'd ask if it was worth checking out again (I've not seen anybody about it since the diagnosis). Down to number 14 so moving quite quickly now, I might not be able to get an appointment by the time I get there though.
We went down to see Laura and Esben yesterday, they're both shattered as he's not sleeping well, it's as if he can't shut down his brain there is so much going on in it and he seems to be having bad dreams as well. He woke from a short nap yesterday crying and talking about spiders. He's coming on in leaps and bounds though, he sings his own words to song tunes, yesterday it was Sheepie, sheepie, sheep to the tune of Twinkle, twinkle.
Steve's already gone off to play a golf match, I hope he doesn't get too wet and I will do some sewing and resting.
Poppy, I hope the yoga helps. Nelski, I hope you are as well as can be expected and that all the other poorlies are doing ok.
TA, have as lovely a day as you can.
Caller number 6 now, have a good day everyone.
