How to stop Barclaycard superfluous emails?

Is there some option I overlooked to not receive so many account notifications? Barclays is the only institution emailing a notification before and confirmation after of my direct debit payment every single month. It's a direct debit there is nothing to be done and I haven't missed a payment or anything so I don't understand what purpose this email serves. These emails come from barclaycard@emails.barclaycard.co.uk which I don't want to block because it may be used for something important. Is there a way to not receive these useful account emails?

If you login to the website, look under 'More/Your details' their is a section called  'Alerts & reminders' which allows you some control over these.

This annoys me too. The heading "A quick look at your direct debit" is patronising. But I have simply set up an email filter to move the relevant emails into my Bin, and forward copies to ODRSupport[at]barclaycard.co.uk. If they're going to automate emails to me then I think I am entitled to automate emails to them.

I only log in on my phone and I can't see the "Alerts and reminders" section there.

Just logged in on the website. I have the Direct Debit payment set to OFF, but still they always send me these emails.

I found the section online, thanks for that. It is annoying none of this is available on the app. My Direct Debit payment does not have an OFF option. My options are ON with text or ON with email. I don't understand why Barclays thinks I want or need to be reminded every month that I have a DD in place. Funny thing is the DD details are not even correctly displayed, it is showing my old account I switched away over 2 months ago. They have collected from the new account but they are still showing old details. Also the site design seems so bloated yet at the same time they have oddly left some highly visible things on default. The favicon for statements are the Red Hat logo...

That particular alert is to let you know a DD has been paid.
I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.

I think so too, so much that I complained to them and they gave me £25. Still patronise me though!

Informing your that money is about to be deducted from your account isn't patronising you.
  • I received this email this morning. I deleted it without opening it. That's three seconds of my life I'll never get back.
