Received a third LOC from BWLegal today, once a year since the alleged incident.

I am moving out of my current address on second week of December and moving abroad for 6-12 months possibly permanently.

I assume best to inform them of this.

However, I will not have a forwarding address in the UK to receive any court papers or further communications from them. And will not have a permanent address overseas for many months to come.

    How will this affect things?

    Sounds great!  The great escape!

Wait till the week before you move, then send an email to BW Legal and to the parking firm's DPO as well, giving your new address for service of papers (the address abroad) which is now your permanent domicile and there is no forwarding address in the UK.  Demand that they immediately erase the old address data, and attach some sort of proof about your move in case they try to faff around protesting that you are lying (and such a letter might be posted to the old address so you'd never see it).

Don't let them do that, give them zero wriggle room (that phrase is not 'wiggle room' as I lectured my DD earlier...sigh!).

  • Thanks Coupon-mad.

What if I don't have a forwarding address abroad for 6+ months, I'll be moving around quite a bit initially before getting a fixed address.

I'm looking into solutions for mail forwarding to family members from old address as a temporary measure, but I am not giving any family members address to be associated with my name as I won't actually live there and it's not fair on them etc.

I would  not look for other solutions with UK addresses because YOU WILL get a court claim very soon. That will happen in your absence then you will get a CCJ.

Giving an address abroad stops it dead. No court claim. Scam over.

Find a way to provide an address abroad.  Even if it's a service offered by a hostel.  There must be someone or some address?

  • Interestingly tried a new tactic, after 3 letters of claim and no action. They sent a follow up email reminding me of the deadline in approx a weeks time.

They're even offering a discount and monthly instalment payment terms, seems kinda desperate

Reminder of the personal repayment solution that is due to expire
Our client is willing to reduce the balance and apply a 20% discount against the current balance, meaning your new balance to pay is £128.00. If you cannot afford to pay the discounted amount in full before xxx deadline in December, then we have a personal payment solution for you with a pre-approved monthly instalment amount of £10.00 which has been recommended considering your estimated disposable income.

I didn't mean an address in UK to register my name against, I meant to forward on mail from old address to a family member, I'll need to do this as I'll no doubt get a trail of post from other companies and suppliers for a while to come.

Can they get hold of addresses from Royal Mail forwarding service?

I mean, even if they can, I'm not formerly connected to these addresses or physically in the country.

I have a forwarding address to give them. :)

A forwarding address is fairly useless as you could still get a CCJ to the old address if you miss the vital letter (court claim).

If you are domiciled abroad, 100% give the parking firm and their agents your address! Scam over.

Yes, I intend to do both for the avoidance of doubt.

I will be giving a forwarding address overseas. And I'll be setting up mail forwarding just in case they continue sending letters despite my formerly informing them of change of address and requesting the cease further contact to that address.

Thanks as every Coupon-Mad for the generosity of your time and wisdom.
