You can even add the bonus once it has expired.NameWithheld said:
Don't forget you can extend the bonus at any time. So every so often, log on and renew the bonus, which will extend its expiry date to 12 months from when you renew.Hal17 said:Thanks Biggus_Dickus, I was not aware of the bonus. Just updated our 2 accounts only took a minute.
Same at Saga savings, which is essentially Marcus, and which shares the £85k FSCS protection with the proper Marcus.0 -

Hmm, minimum balance of £5,000 may discourage some, especially if Marcus and others have a higher rate.Malchester said:I have a Marcus account (little in it) but also have Investec Easy Access paying 0.58%. Minimum £5000 for that rate of 0.58% would get 0.80% with Lloyd’s and Bank of Scotland current accounts with that amount. I have Cynergy which pays 0.60%Malchester said:I have a Marcus account (little in it) but also have Investec Easy Access paying 0.58%. The bank rate is 0.1%, and 2 year bond yields currently 0.39%IvanOpinion said:With current inflation rates that just means you are losing slightly less money.
It is time the banks came out with realistic savings products.

So 0.6% instant access guaranteed (to £85,000) is better than the
large institutional investors can get.
Its the only thing I know of where the little guy gets a better deal than the big guy.0 -
Why?Deleted_User said:I think interest rates will rise soon
Government have borrowed and spaffed away vast amounts of money and,
for political reasons,
inflation is their preferred solution to their debt mountain
Savers who have done the responsible thing have been rinsed and hung out to dry.

Almost useful, except that doesn't link to the Easy Access account you quoted, which I assume is the E-asy Access account which is no longer available and pays 0.2%.Malchester said:

The one that pays 0.58%, pays zero% for under £5k balance.
Online savings accounts from Investec | Fixed Rate and Instant Access
Investec's ac paying 0.58% (variable) is Online Flexi Saver - but 0% below £5k.
And:"A quick heads up:
While we work on expanding this platform, we can only accept applications from people who:
- Are opening a solo account
- Haven't held an Investec Online Flexi Saver or Investec Fixed Rate Saver in the last 12 months"

Right. When I click on the link I posted it takes me to the 0.58% account. You get no interest i the balance is below £5000 but if over that figure the interest is paid on the whole amount. So the info I posted was current.soulsaver said:

You named the account; it isn't available; doesn't pay the interest you stated and isn't shown in the link you subsequently posted.Malchester said:I have a Marcus account (little in it) but also have Investec Easy Access paying 0.58%.
