I am in a slightly similar boat.

I gave Avro regular meter readings and my monthly bill hovered around 90-120 per month, average £110.

My last payment was £110 on 17 september - this was after providing a meter reading a few days before.

Then when I looked 2 nights ago on 26/09 - my statement said £195 outstanding. This makes no sense since my average is £110 and they are claiming I used £195 in 9 days.

@andrew_12345 The same sort of questions -  plus is/was Avro using your readings ?

Online statements can be misleading - they show the credit/debit on the last bill plus the DD's  but DO NOT INCLUDE the cost of energy until the next bill is produced.

Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

These are readings that I provided, fairly regularly - about once every month or so.
In September I provided two readings - one before my last bill was generated and one afterward.
  • Hi, im in the same boat,
any one know if the new Provider can chase you for the debts.
Cause apparently im -£400 which is ridiculous.
Can Octopus Energy take legal action to recover debts?
reason i ask is that im not going ahead with Octopus and signing up with another provider.
    Thanks

The administrators of the failed company will be the ones chasing you for the debt, sometimes the SoLR will help, but ultimately the money is owed to the original supplier and the administrators are obliged to recover as much cash as possible to pay the creditors.
Also there is no Ombudsman support for anything related to that as they are no longer bound by the supply license conditions.

Awful isn’t it. I can’t believe they’re billing me for over £1000 for 3 months needy in the summer! That usually costs me £300 ish. It’s just crazy.

No one is billing you a £1000 for 3 months. Suppliers normally bill monthly. If you do not provide a meter reading then the supplier will base all charges on estimates until it gets an actual meter reading.  As I pointed out earlier, you need to sit down - with help if necessary - and calculate what you actually owe. It is a simple process. Read your meter and deduct from it your opening reading when your Avro account was set up. You then have your actual usage in kWhs/year. Apply this figure to the tariff you are on ( add VAT if necessary) and you have your total charges. Add up all your payments and deduct the amount paid from the charges. You then have your debit/credit balance.

So more than two weeks after your original post you're still  burying your head in the sand and still going with the "they're billing me £1000 for 3 months in the summer" line?

Have you followed any of the advice people have taken the time to give you here?

You pay for the energy you use. Either Avro have made some wild estimates and your bill is wrong. Or you have used the energy and what you're seeing is a "catch up" bill.

But you're going to have to do some leg work to figure it out.
