It’s a relatively ideal moment for my partner and I to go travelling - we want to do 6 months away.
However, in the context of covid, is it a) safe b) morally right and c) as fun
Would love your thoughts on the matter as I cannot decide!

    a) Likely to increase your risk, but depends where you'd be going
    b) Personal value judgement, but many would disapprove
    c) Unlikely, but depends on your definition of fun
  • On the other hand the opportunity might not come round again.....

Exactly - my point is that 'morally right' is inherently personal and isn't anything to do with rules and regulations.  If someone chooses to ask whether something is 'morally right' then there'd obviously be a range of opinions, but ultimately it's solely up to the individual what they do....

I suppose the major risk with going travelling now is that lockdowns and travel restrictions are changing constantly but as long as you are prepared to be flexible then why the hell not? I'm sure that wherever you went, you and your money will be more than welcome.

Make sure you have adequate medical cover, including covid in case you get infected and require hospital treatment. isolation in official  accommodation at your own cost.

Catching Covid may not be fun. Depending on where you are at the time.

You’ve missed out d) - will you be able to access the things you want to do in the places you are travelling to?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Ironically I canned a trip to Turkey at the end of the month due to requiring a PCR Negative Test 72 Hours before travel only for them to lift the requirement a couple of days later.  :'(

How safe you make it depends on personal choices - vaccine before travel, keeping distances, wearing masks etc

Not sure what moral dilemma you have exactly, can you explain? As long as you mitigate the possibility of spreading covid, maybe by taking a test before every move to a new area? Ensure you have insurance, so any health care you need you can fund. On the other side some countries rely on tourism, so need visitors.

Fun will depend on where you go. Clearly going to places in lockdown isn't fun, so you will need to plan for an adaptable route.
