Reporting back to confirm no seepage since tightening nut with spanner almost 12 hours ago.plumb1_2 said:Use a Stanley knife blade to remove sealant, and go a buy a brass nut. Toolstation 43258
i never use plastic nuts, I throw them in the bin.
I always have a min of 6 spare brass nuts in my van.
I'll acquire a Stanley knife blade and a brass back nut. Thanks for the product ID.0 -
Well that will be a relief - you must have been good to burst!ClarusDignus said:

I don't know why you didn't tighten the plastic nut with a spanner as it was the very first thing you were advised when you first posted.Sorry I can't think of anything profound, clever or witty to write here.0 -
Hi,if it's fine, leave it as it is, but keep your eye on it.You can get the extras in just in case.Do you wish you had tried the 'tightening with a spanner' 6 days ago?1

I done so with a view to applying sealant remover, which arrives in a few days.
Yes, definitely wish I tried tightening just a little more just a little earlier though the overall process has been highly educational.1 -
Reporting back to confirm I removed the remaining sealant (entirely) and replaced the plastic back nut with a brass back nut.plumb1_2 said:Use a Stanley knife blade to remove sealant, and go a buy a brass nut. Toolstation 43258

The cistern inlet hole is successfully sealed and the toilet is operational.
