Diverted Flight due to Volcanic Ash

Options
On a recent BA flight to Tenerife from London on reaching Canary Island flight went into holding pattern over Grand Canary. Pilot informed passengers that news from Tenerife airport was airport was fully open, but BA operations were concerned due to volcanic ash in area. After 1 hr flight landed at Grand Canary, after 2 hrs on ground took off for Malaga in Spain. After 11 hours sitting on plane finally landed in Malaga. After stop over hotel flight eventually departed for Tenerife arriving 13.20, a 19 hour delay. BA was only carrier that diverted all other airlines had landed at Tenerife / departed that day. Apparently it’s a BA policy if volcanic ash is in area. Are we due any compensation
