Root canal surgery without anaesthetic is preferable to the DM.tim_p said:
Anything is preferable to the DM surely.The_Green_Hornet said:Looks like I've wandering onto The Guardian website by mistake.2 -
I reckon I could clear out the sugar shelves in our local co-op without too much effort - just buy 3 or 4 bags and mention to the person behind you that you've heard there'll be a shortage.
It just needs everyone to buy one bag more than normal and it will be cleared out in an hour or so. and then some idiot whatsapping a photo of the emty shelves to the DM and the BBC - then whoosh a nationwide shortage of sugar.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers9 -
Elsewhere in the world some people still struggle to get a decent meal everyday and lack clean drinking water. Western culture has become all about me first.matelodave said:I reckon I could clear out the sugar shelves in our local co-op without too much effort - just buy 3 or 4 bags and mention to the person behind you that you've heard there'll be a shortage.

Welcome. It's a lot better over here, although you may initially miss the endless coverage of house prices, semi-naked celebrities, migrants, Conservative cheerleading and an obsession with the EU. You'll get through it.The_Green_Hornet said:Looks like I've wandering onto The Guardian website by mistake.2 -

Who's up for that?

Panic is being generated by some of the British press.0

Why let the truth get in the way of a good story!1

Heaven forbid that people make their own decisions rather than doing what they're told to by newspapers!pearl123 said:Panic is being generated by some of the British press.
Honestly, where's the sense of personal responsibility here? If thousands of people rush out and buy toilet rolls and petrol because they've read a few sensational headlines in the rags and haven't actually bothered to understand the detail, doesn't that say more about their level of common sense than it does about the press?
I suspect the people panic-buying are the same people blaming the press. It's always someone else's fault.3 -

Its made with brewer yeast as a byproduct from the brewing industry
So when pubs were closed, nowt was being brewed and there was indeed a shortage of marmite.

Yes, but every single paper has it's own particular political bias - though many people think their own choice is perfect, and always tells the truth - obviously lol!Aylesbury_Duck said:
