Wanna buy a Van

They are four wildly different size vans, to ask you what size of van you want.RobHT said:
Thanks, I know well the Vans you mentioned, these are already very expensiveAdrianC said:
So what sort of size van are you looking at? If we consider the Ford range - Transit Courier, Transit Connect, Transit Custom, Transit?

I noticed the price increase, but they have been always a bit expensive...Herzlos said:Vans are in huge demand at the moment for various reasons - lack of supply, demand from businesses and people who want them for leisure use.
What do you need the van for?
I'd use it to carry some stuff when relocating, I move a lot, plus my sport motorbike.
Have you looked at a box trailer? You'd still need a car, but would save a fortune compared to a van.

Vans are usually more expensive to insure - even when used privately.RobHT said:

Personally i'd be looking at some sort of a people carrier and drop the back seats down when needed. The Vauxhall Zafira and Citroen Picasso were always great for that.
Its also very hard to get a well looked after van second hand, and they are just as likely to fail and have big bills as a car.
It feels like you want a van and are looking for justification that you are right. IMHO you arent. I'd definitely be looking at estate car, MPV or trailer options.

Thanks, I think that the estate is the best option, less risky, I'm precisely scared about the way the Van was usedmotorguy said:

Actually, I'm gonna lease the estate, so zero responsabilities (in theory), until my life will allow it.
Even if I have the money in hand, it's always a risk to own such stupid piece of metal, the apparent lower cost can become your worst nightmare.
Certainly, the price will be much higher on long term (20y life time), I counted 2.5 times the price of purchase of an used vehicle and its own maintenance for the whole time.
More than an hammer on my head, but yeah, at least I can sleep nicely (in theory

I found out the Ford Transit Connect, I decided to buy that... Sorry if I missed it from your message, I thought it was just another big Transit, which is obviously out of budget for my usage.AdrianC said:So much that makes precisely zero sense.
Yes - most vans are used for businesses.
Yes - bigger, less aerodynamic vehicles like vans use more fuel.
You want a van that you can kip in and put a bike in, but also use everyday.

What's your purchase budget, or would you be PCP/leaseing?
Online I see a few troubles with the sensors, but what to say, every damn vehicle has problems with sensors...
This is the only downside I found...
I'll buy it with almost all the perks, pretty cool, it has the AdBlue as a side note, but at least it guarantees longevity and low road tax.0 -
Vans do seem expensive now. We are about to sell a 2006 1.9tdi SWB VW Transporter panel van on 120k miles and and WBAC are offering 5k+0

To buy a van at £3,000 extra when compared to my car, it would need to earn me several thousands per year to pay for itself, as I am still working, that will not happen just yet.2

Absolutely crazy for a 15 yo van. Or car.TheProfessional said:Vans do seem expensive now. We are about to sell a 2006 1.9tdi SWB VW Transporter panel van on 120k miles and and WBAC are offering 5k+1 -
Yes I agree. I wonder once things settle the values will drop to something more expected for a vehicle of this age. I did read somewhere that there is such a van shortage people are buying things like the Berlingo with seats in the back and ripping them out so it can be used as a van.Grumpy_chap said:

We have had a few people already asking about the van trying to get it cheap as they know we have sold the business and no longer use it0 -
Sorry it was £6k+ but they would obviously drop it as per usual
