Wanna buy a Van
Hi,
this thread will be fun, so brace yourself
Did you?? Good boys.
I have a car already, but it sucks for some reason and it makes me quite nervous.
The ammortment cost of the car as of today is officially 7000/28 = 250
Few observations:
- I still didn't replace tyres (they can be very expensive, I have XL size) or brakes (even if these should be cheap)
- I had 1 major mantenance and 1 minor, plus one component broken of about 400 pounds, plus all the cambelt and drive belt group, in total I spent 1k in a cool garage and the car costed me 6k.
At that time, I planned that the car would have costed me twice the price of purchase in 10y lifetime, well it's probably going in that direction if not worst.
The ammortment cost would be 12000/120=100 , including all, also tyres.
The car is mint and is treated with white gloves, it had also the max inspection level from AAA.
I think is very fair, but it sucks for a few reasons, plus it doesn't suit my secondary needs.
My point is, !!!!!!...
When I purchased the car, I didn't think that in such short time, it would have just !!!!!! me off, the car sucks to drive (long story) and therefore I want to change it, but I also have other requirements, I actually need a Van.
Unfortunately, it costs as hell due the possibility to use it for business, so, I couldn't find a cheap Van to drive, or to maintain, or to avoid to remain without fuel
(thirsty boys)
Also, I would use the Van as primary vehicle for evertything, plus camping and biking.
I really couldn't find a fit with my budget (more than 250 per month is risky for me), the Van is way more expensive than any car out there, apart the common German scrap metals that we can all see all around the country, they could battle with a Van in terms of costs.
In fact, I noticed that the people out there with a Van, actually have a business with it, or their wallet is simply broken, there isn't someone tha can really own a Van and stay low with the expenses...
Considering that my life is already expensive etc, it seems quite risky to own such vehicle...
Any thoughts? I'm struggling to fit the Van costs in my wallet
(the costs shown are without surprises at the time of writing, as well as without fuel or insurance costs)

I didn't replace tyres and breaks because they are in good conditions.
Mint means that I do all that needs to be done.0 -
So much that makes precisely zero sense.
Yes - most vans are used for businesses.
Yes - bigger, less aerodynamic vehicles like vans use more fuel.
You want a van that you can kip in and put a bike in, but also use everyday.
So what sort of size van are you looking at? If we consider the Ford range - Transit Courier, Transit Connect, Transit Custom, Transit?
What's your purchase budget, or would you be PCP/leaseing?0 -
What is an "ammortment cost", and in what way is it "official"?

Of course, he's forgetting to account for the residual value, so it's a nonsense.2 -
I suspect English is not the OP's first language. Some unhelpful posts aren't going to clarify things.1

Even if purchased used, it would cost me 400 a month... (in theory)0 -
Vans are in huge demand at the moment for various reasons - lack of supply, demand from businesses and people who want them for leisure use.
What do you need the van for?

I'd use it to carry some stuff when relocating, I move a lot, plus my sport motorbike.0
