I need to return a high value item. I've had the returns label but is it recommended that I pay extra so that the item is covered by insurance?

It isn't just about value. Make sure the carrier allows the type of item you are returning - for example a tv will be difficult to return with most carriers.
What is the reason for return?1 -
It's a mobile phone and I've had a Royal Mail label from them.theonlywayisup said:It isn't just about value. Make sure the carrier allows the type of item you are returning - for example a tv will be difficult to return with most carriers.

Is the return to Amazon or a third party seller?
If it's Amazon they usually give tracked postage, so as long as you get a receipt at the post office you're covered.

They have provided a label but I wasn't sure if I needed to pay extra for insurance purposes.0 -
No just use the label they provided. It is up to Amazon to cover the full amount considering they provided you with the courier label.2

If you get it scanned at the Post Office that goes straight to Amazon, just get the receipt. Sometimes they refund before they get it back.
In theory there are some things that could go wrong but they're really extreme.

Posted the item on 28/09/21 and still no refund. I've checked the Royal Mail tracking and it hasn't moved since it reached the main sorting office on 29/09/21!
Not sure what to do now, do I contact Royal Mail or Amazon?0 -
Amazon should cover it as Amazon deals with royal mail1
