Anyone reading the above posts could end up confused as to what the best antivirus there is.

The fact is, there is no 'best' antivirus. It's more to do with personal preference and what works best for each of us. Each antivirus works differently and will pick up/miss different viruses. If you check the comparisons (there are loads), it seems that consistently Kaspersky has the highest detection rate.

No matter what the advertising says. THERE IS NOT ONE SINGLE ANTIVIRUS PRODUCT OUT THERE THAT WILL PICK UP EVERY SINGLE VIRUS.

  • As rex has said no one product does the lot. Anti virus software is just the start, you need to combine anti virus software with a firewall and anti spyware/trojan protection. - (not wishing to teach you to suck eggs)

I find AntiVir personal edition does a great job, available from https://www.free-av.com

Just to add to the previous post, just because the AV programme is there, does not mean it is doing its job. Get into the habbit of running the programme and doing a full scan. Not just AV but also antispyware. Also make sure it scans all files!
