This lady didn't even have the decency to pour the water onto the ground.
Yep, a darwin award nominee right there.  Some people need to remember that petrol is a spirit and can ignite without a water bottle ever being open.

Sky News themselves joined in with the lunacy last night with a debate on "Is Britain running Dry?"

In other news, fuel stations in North and Mid Wales have had phone calls from places more than 200 miles away asking if they have fuel.  Lunacy.  😖

There is also probably now a backlog of those people who didn't NEED fuel on Friday/Saturday, but may have otherwise topped up whilst out shopping, who didn't bother (and didn't panic) but who actually DO now need some!
I'm one of them ... I'm not sure how much fuel I have in my car just now but I know I don't have enough for the 300+ miles round trip I need to do next weekend. Hopefully I'll be able to fill up at some point this week. :)
Just checked the car ... 1/3 of a tank so I'll definitely need to fill up. When I was walking my furry boys this morning we went past the local Sainsburys garage ... it looked like a lot of the pumps were out of service. 😶

Yep then there is me....panicky and totally don't believe I'll see Yorkshire.

Went out Sunday and noticed one closed garage and other had about 6 waiting roadside and full forecourt Partner said see it's not that bad....I am not convinced.  Today partner has heading off to South Wales with work for two nights.

No I am wondering if he will get back!!!

Is it to early to crack open a bottle or red wine folks!!!

Apart from the petrol station to panic queue for petrol, given all the lockdown rules and everything, where are all these people actually planning to drive?
The company running school buses from our village has no tickets available to our daughters' school, so we have to drive them to school. Most of their activities are in towns about 5 miles from the village and, other than school buses, the bus services are infrequent and impractical.
  • This is only the start, best be getting used to it.  Brent Crude over $80,  Oil (TTF) over 80 Euros, Thermal Coal up over $150 to $210 in a year.  China Electricity blackouts.

Presumably she also doesn't realise that petrol will dissolve certain types of plastics?

There's a big difference between conspiracy and convenience.

The media report whatever is convenient to them.

What even is "the media"? There are so many different media outlets nowadays, so many different platforms, so many ways of getting your point of view across. I simply don't believe they're all being co-ordinated to manipulate the poor innocent Great British Public into doing something they don't want to. @elsien has hit the nail on the head, everyone acting in their own self-interest results in worse outcomes overall, same with moronbuying of bog roll and pasta.

I bet you won't even be able to see an increase in the Sun's circulation figures.

    No conspiracy required.

OK, my turn for a conspiracy theory. Big Lithium is behind this. They're controlling the media, using a run on combustion fuel to drive the sales of electric cars. The worst bit about it is, it's worked. When the lease is up, the Mrs will not be getting another combustion-engined car. We were on the fence, but this fortnight's shenanigans has changed our minds.

I filled up in July (£40) and when we visited the MiL this weekend just gone, the gauge is still showing full tank.
You certainly live up to your screen name. "Man who goes nowhere wonders why no-one else lives like a hermit".

I've got a long trip tomorrow, and a wedding to attend on Friday. On top of that an elderly close relative is prone to needing help at short notice 200 miles away, and we have kids at university both more than an hour away so it's helpful to know that we can just go at any time without worrying about fuelling up. Normally I'd get some on the way if necessary but that option is out of the window for the time being.
