I very much doubt the parcel was weighed in the post office and came to exactly 500g - sounds like the allowance paid for on the shipping label.
Most phones weigh less than 200g, with packaging about 300g so I don't think that 500g proves anything.
I'm not saying you didn't return the phone, just saying the 500g bit is irrelevant.

Is that very round weight (500g) the actual weight, or the upper weight of the price band? So, post price £x.xx for a parcel up to so big and weighing 'up to 500g'? Then, the next band for 'up to 1kg'?peakyfinders said:Just a warning for those of you thinking of getting an upgraded mobile or contract with SKY don’t do it got !proof of postage showing the weight but they say that they received just the box ombudsmen have sided with sky unbelievable !!!

“Home Shopping Returns” that’s just a free service to return goods, I’m amazed anyone would post an expensive item that way.Doesn’t it only have a max of £50 compensation?====0

Even though the postage is paid for an expensive item like a phone I would pay the extra for Special Delivery. You are then covered with insurance up to £500 if you pay a bit more up to £1000. There are SD bags that a mobile phone in it's box will fit. When I'm out on delivery and if anyone asks me I always say to use RM SD because a lot of couriers won't take expensive items like mobiles and laptops.2
