Howdy !
During lockdown , Internet slowed down a lot at times . It improved lately , but this week ( and especially the last 2 days ) it has gone too sluggish Imho
Rather than contact Vodafone just yet , I was wondering if this reading on Speedtest App is good or not ;
Downlosd mbps 37.1 ( ping 7ms ) jitter 0.57 ms Upload mbps 8.93 ( loss 0%)
please could you advise .
Thank you kindly in advance 😼

First things first; login to your router and find out what speed you're currently connected at as well as taking a screen shot of your connection stats and print them here.
Also, if you want an accurate speed test connect directly via ethernet and run a variety of speed testers. You can run sppedtest.net but I also like to use https://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest and the BT wholesale one - https://speedtest.btwholesale.com/1 -
OP also what speed are you supposed to be getting ??/paid for .Speed never measured over wifi .1

Thanks very much for your speedy replies 😸👍plus links @neilmcl
I have to be honest , and will admit I don't know what sped I'm supposed to be getting
I am on fibre though ( if that means much ) .
I can check the app, and see if the info is there .So...
bt ; ping 20 ms/ download 51.7 mbps/ upload 8.97 mbps
Think broadband ; download 37.1 mbps/ upload 6.9 mbps your latency ; 46 ms / near ultra hd ( 2560 pix) streaming possible ..0 -
Just tested mine 13 download; 0.9 upload. Can't even get FTTC hereNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1

@another_casualty your measured speeds are fine, so any issues you're having are probably related either to WiFi interference (so try another WiFi channel*) or something on your local network - e.g. a family member downloading game updates for their console - (or your machine - e.g. Windows updates) hogging the bandwidth.
Can you describe what you mean by "sluggish"? What are you doing at the time and how does this manifest itself?
* Use an app like InSSIDer or similar to check which WiFi channel you're currently using, and which other nearby WiFi networks are using the same channel. Then change the used channel in your router to a number (1, 6 or 11 for the 2.4GHz frequency) that looks quieter.Jenni x2 -
I just tested on Vodafone app ; 23.5 download / 5.00 upload / 37.0 ping
This was on my iPhone and not iPad or Apple TV 🍏0 -
A lot depends on the time of day, whether you are using wifi or cables to connect to your router and even whether you are using 2.4 or 5ghz wifi.
I get a good solid 76 mbit/s sitting in the lounge about 12 feet and one wall away from my router using 5 ghz. If I switch to 2.4ghz the speend drops to around 48mbits. I am presently sitting in my shed which is about 30 feet and two walls away from my router and I'm getting around 27mbit/s, upload is around 18-20mbit/s (on 5ghz)
I pay for and generally get 76mbits (we are FTTP) but sometimes in the evenings and weekends it can drop to around 65-70mbit/sNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers1 -

Basically , living on my own so just me that is affected .Most of the time , I'm on the iPad ,plus looking at you tube via Apple TV box which is connected to my non smart TV .Not sure if it's anything to do with updates on my iPad mini 4 plus iMac which I did yesterday. What happened today was when replying to an email , I got an error message
Then I couldn't do proper webchat to pharmacy 2u , and then the shore medical app was too slow, buggy and unusable ..
Good tip for insider . I did change channels in 5he past , but forgot 😸.looks the best solution to change again
I don't use windows ..0 -
Good Points about time of day etc.
Other things to mention ; Apple TV plus Freesat box connected to router
Live on the coast
IMac in spare bedroom wi-fi .Most stuff done in front room0 -
Forgot to mention , safari pages take longer to load up , and what I often do is put my finger on 5he wifi part of the preferences app and check it is still running. I do that quite a lot ..0
