Called an Accident claims company instead of my insurer by mistake
Someone reversed into my stationary vehicle yesterday, my wife then googled up my insurer Esure to give them a call and then spoke to someone whom she believed to be from ESure. The rep provided with 3 options: 1. Selecting ESure to deal with this, premiums will increase 2. Go with the third party insurer 3. Go with this Claims management compant (Black Thorn) who will do everything without any excess or premium increase. Since I was the main policy holder the rep tried calling me whilst he was on the other line with my wife but could not connect, he seemed to be in a hurry to close the deal. My wife later contacted me with the details which did not sound quite right, after some advise from some collegues, I decided to call ESure my self and discovered the accident had not been reported which is when I realised that my wife did not speak to ESure at all . I provided them with all details and also informed them of this phone incident with Black Thorn. They advised me to call back this company and tell them that you will not be selecting them. My wife then gave them (Black Thorn) a call, the rep tried convincing her at first but the abruptly disconnected. However later that day I received a call from a company called ACALTD that I did not pick up, they then left a text message, They did the same today and left a message about a hire vehicle.
The main problem here is that my wife provided this Black Thorn with our details (car reg, phone) and with the details of the other party (car reg and phone), will this company cause any issues for us or the other party going forward, they are certainly behaving as if we gave them our consent !
I'm currently more stressed with these guys than with the accident, any advise greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards,
Chris

They can't make any major problems for you or the other party but obviously be careful with any inbound phone calls of who it is and as general advice, but more relevant than normal in this case, if you talk about getting a replacement car whilst yours is in for repair just make sure you know if its a free courtesy car, a hire car provided for under the terms of your policy (your policy will say something about this if its an option you've taken) or a credit hirechris105 said:The main problem here is that my wife provided this Black Thorn with our details (car reg, phone) and with the details of the other party (car reg and phone), will this company cause any issues for us or the other party going forward, they are certainly behaving as if we gave them our consent !
