Booking.com (not) genius discounts

I have been checking Booking.com for hotel in Birmingham in November. They are expensive due to concerts, so I have looked a number of times over the last two weeks to see if there is any price movement. The searches have generated my genius offer of 15%. As I stay in Brum once a month at the same hotel(s), I know the price to pay and what was offered. The genius offer came after an hour of a search this morning. More like idiot offer as the prices appeared to have been hiked by 30-40%. They think idiots will be lured by the word "Discount". fellow travelogs please note

In my experience the genius discounts are very much real!
I check prices among all comparison and hotel sites and have made savings in the past due to genius discounts.

Are you sure the price hasn't just gone up on ALL sites? Or just booking.com?
