Not selling my stock shares during its peak and even when it started to go down. I still earned a lot but I could have profitted a lot more if I didn’t hold on to the stock and just sold!

    1) Buying mid-range hifi for years and never being satisfied with the upgrades, only discovering this late in life (with all other financial shackles falling away) that biting the bullet and buying some truly fabulous gear has been absolutely worth it and would have saved years and countless thousands of pounds worth of !!!!!!-footing around.

    2) Paying spare cash into the mortgage a few years ago to clear it more quickly, when the savvy move would have been to dump that cash into pension funds where it instantly attracts generous tax relief and then has a few years of compounding to grow into a comfortable retirement pot.

My most expensive mistake: Not following my gut instinct and followed my misguided morals instead.

Booking a holiday flight in Feb, and accidentally booking the return 5 weeks later rather than 1 week later ...

And more recently, packing car for return to the airport, put the key on the passenger seat with a bag, closed the door, and heard it lock: a 'feature' in that make, apparently.

Spending £235 on a jumper for OH to shrink it in the wash when I had only worn it once…

My Niece did similar. It's because unless it's a leap year the days of the week and the dates are exactly the same in February and March up until March 28th.. Niece booked  a week in March instead of the February half term she'd meant to and she couldn't take March off instead  because she's a teacher -  a maths one!
