Why specifically “faithfully”? wouldnt any formal ending be okay? like Best wishes
Because you do not know the person.

Yours sincerely, yours truly and best wishes would be for a friend or someone you know personally

Yours faithfully is for a professional business letter and that is what you are doing.

If you were writing to Dear John or Dear Mr Rogers you would end it in yours sincerely and maybe yours truly if you knew them well

Even big companies get it wrong when they write Dear Sirs and end in yours sincerely.
It is a sign of ignorance of the English Language

These  questions are better answered by using a search engine.   Is "best wishes" a formal ending?

Such a shame that schools (and I recently worked in education) no longer teach kids these days about proper salutations and endings for formal letters.  People over a certain age had it drummed into them that Dear Sir/Madam MUST have the ending 'yours faithfully'!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

.......... and lower case only, not as we have seen above, capitalised.
  • When someone is searching for the landowner, using the HM Land Registry for example, should they be aiming for the leaseholder or the freeholder?
    Private PCN??
Do not pay but PLEASE DO NOT IGNORE IT.
Don't use old advice to ignore these. This mistake very nearly ruined my case.
