Fibre Broadband Rollout Mayhem

I live in Eastbourne. For weeks my broadband service was disrupted while "Lightening" Fibre dug up the pavements(still going on)to roll out their new service.
I was told by my provider that although compensation of up to £350 was payable, this was only if the connection was off.completelyMy service kept dropping out, making the service unusable & necessitating paying for mobile data.
In the end, after weeks of disruption,we were granted £35.
Now I've heard that another firm "City Fibre" is rolling out their fibre optics & digging up the pavements again. This reminds me of the days when the roads were dug up & replaced by gas or water companies, only to be dug up again by the other.

I'm not sure how someone digging up pavement is going to affect your broadband, unless they also happen to drill straight through a cable supplying your property. And then I'd expect a lot more than dropouts. It'd likely be out for more than a day whilst they fixed it.0

"Dear Lightening Fibre/City Fibre
For months my broadband service has been rendered utterly unusable by your works to install your new fibre service.
Can I suggest that you compensate me by offering me the biggest/fastest/cheapest broadband contract ever seen in East Sussex.
Yours HS444"

I moved here to Old Town 10 days ago. The delivery lorry could not park outside our new home because of "vital fibre works" and it took some days to get our furniture into the house. Yesterday the other lot cordoned off the house and are digging up the same pavement. Our daughter could not get into the house from school because they had not left access. No chance of putting our bin out for the once in two week collection of course. They seem to have few staff working and half of them are in dispute about money it seems. Meanwhile the Council is nowhere to be seen. Sure we need to improve our infrastructure but this chaos seems so "Carry on" British. No information, no co-ordination, no interest by the council (who seem to think their role in life is to issue higher and higher Council Tax bills for a laughable service). The same contractors are digging up the same road twice in a few days to lay more cable. Why not dig up the road once and lay both the cables at the same time? No chance! I suspect the road will be left in a dreadful state so yes I expect the council will soon employ the same people to repair the mess they have all created. Within a couple of years at best, I guess both companies will have gone broke and new companies will try their luck and will start off by.....digging up the road and pavements.0
