What do people pay?

  • I did speak with eON last night and they also advised me to do monthly readings, so think I will start providing these on a monthly basis and see if this has any affect on the current price I'm paying, before looking to change anything.

  • Just did a quote with Octopus as heard they’re great and supposed to be cheaper but still being hit with this? :-
Just switched in plan on SP, well three weeks back now and your monthly rate is £40 a month more that my Exclusive fixed December 2022 B1! Though I am paying more that my £88 I paid on my previous plan, at £97!

I have been a SP customer for over 20 years and have never switched!
I work from home so my cat can be fed on demand!

I have been using a spreadsheet for a number of years to keep track of use and bills! IO put my usage into uswitch and it allows every so often to highlight another SP in plan switch! Yours appears the same as mine, at

    3,300 kWh Elect
    12,000 kWh Gas

Sorry, not entirely sure I understood this post? Are you able to explain?
  • Another spreadsheet user here.
I also have one for calculating new estimates for myself using a years supply from my bills. I just feed in the unit costs, standing charge, gas unit conversion (from my meter units to kwh to give the online guesser) and add the vat. I find the estimates the various sites load me higher than I use if I let them guess. I am usually a penny or three on par with supplier when they bill me.

  • @david_cox1990  Suppliers are playing games at the moment. The Ofgem-capped tariff is losing them money and the Government will not change the Cap (albeit, it knows that the Cap will have to rise by over 15% come next April). Many suppliers - including Octopus - are not offering quotes for their flexible tariffs, and they have hiked the price of the fixed tariffs on offer. They are hoping that consumer fright will encourage people to fix at these very high prices which, in turn, will improve their cashflow.
