Beware Shell Broadband Wireless Router Charge

I returned my router within 30 days of switching away (in accordance with T&Cs) but still Shell sent me a notification that I had not returned the router (nearly two months after my contract ended) and I would therefore be charged. 

Shell refunded the charge because I complained and said ‘it’s suffering delays in processing returned routers’. 

Likely story, probably inflating profits by depending on a) who complains and/ or b) retains proof of postage in the event of a dispute. 

Misses the point that if they can’t process the returned routers (in a timely fashion) they shouldn’t impose the £30 charge. 

Poor end of contract experience in my opinion. A warning to others to look out for false router charges.

Just a warning that Shell is still appalling when you have returned your router. Their No Reply emails say they will "take care of the rest"!!!, which is a joke. First they emailed to ask me to call them to confirm I have sent it back. Then they sent a chaser email telling me to return it or I would be charged £35. Royal Mail tracking says they received it 8 days ago. You have to use their online Contact Us facility to get in touch. Still waiting for confirmation I won't be charged. (The rest of their admin has been dreadful too). Won't be using them again.
