Looking for experiences on the John Lewis ‘Apple Product Trade in’ (its partner - Square1)

Hi,
After experiencing first hand recently the ‘business practices’ of the John Lewis branded Apple trade in partner ‘Square1’ and looking at some of the genuine posts of John Lewis ‘Apple product trade in’ customers on TrustPilot I’m hoping to collect a body of customer experience that shows a pattern of behaviour from Square 1 that would form the basis for an article in the national press.

Many John Lewis customers (incl. myself) have been enticed to buy Apple products from John Lewis rather than Apple by John Lewis mimicking Apple’s trade in scheme + trade in values.
The problem comes in that many customers find out after they have purchased from John Lewis that rather than the offered trade in value, when their device is sent in an excuse is made and they are offered a fraction of the original offer.
So In my case for a pristine original (in every way) owned from new iPad Air 2, all of a sudden I’m told it has a non Apple screen so the offer is reduced by 90% - take it or leave it.
Just how systemic this business practice is i don't yet know, but I’m keen to find out.
What the financial arrangement is between John Lewis and Square1 is I don’t know, but I’m keen to find out.
Why John Lewis would put their hard earned reputation at grave risk in this way I don’t know, but I’m keen to find out.
Please post your experiences here.
if you have any inside information either from John Lewis or Square1, please message me on Twitter - [REDACTED BY FORUM TEAM]
thanks
