  • Do you have any installed apps that deal with photos (potential resave as appropriate file type by conversion) or which scanning software are you using - these sometimes have settings for the file type that a scan is saved as.
(If neither is suitable for you there are plenty of apps/programs that are free and can do a conversion but maybe best use what you have as a first port of call.)

If you right click it you should get the 'Open with' option.

As per above, the location of the file is irrelevant (as long as it is on your PC somewhere). Either 'Open with' as mentioned, or open Paint then drag/drop the BMP image into Paint; either way you then Save as in JPG or PNG format ... :)

MS Paint is fully capable of changing the format of a picture quickly and automatically.   The result will look pretty much identical.

MS Paint works in BMP as its native format, and you will simply be telling it to convert it to the format you need by "Saving As" and selecting the correct format from the dropdown box (it's underneath the filename box).

In most Windows installations, just double-clicking the image file will open it in MS Paint, so I would suggest trying that first before going to try and find the app.

When you scan, does it give you various file extensions in which to save?  If so simply select .jpeg or.jpg.
  • I have found the way to change the format when I into the control center 3 option I click on configuration and choose what format I need problem solved so thanks for all the replies.
