I am leaving HSBC to go to Chase when you can get an account at the new bank.2 -

Depends what you consider a feature. Santander and Monzo don't do cheque imaging for instance.
With Monzo you also can't pay cash in for free or use Post Offices for banking.
As for banks, if you haven't tried an ICICI current account... just don't for your own sanity.0 -
I like it for the very reason it is hard work.
If its that tough to access your own account and set up payments etc - its even tougher for fraudsters! No physical secure key and PIN - no access.
Some other bank accounts just feel too easy to access and set up new payees.0 -
I am with the HSBC and never have problems logging in or setting up a new payee. I set up a new payee only the other day. The code I had to put in was the last 4 digits of the account number and the amount including the pence and it went through fine.
Pending transactions are fine and show up, even deposits like wages show up the day before they go in. When we pay for fuel at the pay at pump, it only shows up as £1.00 pending and then the right amount goes out a couple of days later.Can’t comment on HSBC credit cards, as never had one.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.670 -
My tuppence-worth as a recent switcher to HSBC - I don't think the digital experience is particularly great, nor do I think it's the worst out there. I found Nationwide's online offerings to be far worse, and Lloyds to be far better. As I do 99% of my banking entirely from my smartphone, a feature-rich app is really important to me. When Chase sort their act out, I will certainly look at that account, I'll also look at Monzo and Starling in due course (I don't want to be a serial account switcher!).0

Here's why I think HSBC are so bad:
2. Logging into your account with laptop/PC cannot be done without your mobile phone as it requires a code generated by the app. The account loading is also very slow compared to my other banks.
Not really.
American Express only requires login and password. That's it.Tesco, only login, password and memorable infoTSB, same as Tesco above
Lloyds / Halifax, same as Tesco and TSB, but occasionally send SMSMetro, same as Tesco and TSBBarclaycard, same as aboveNationwide, same as above, plus SMSSome banks ask you if you're on a trusted device and then don't send you SMS anymore.None of my banks requires me to use the app.With HSBC, you need to open the app, then click cancel because you don't want to log in, then click Generate security code, then again click Generate code, then use your fingerprint and then receive the code which is valid for only 30 seconds.Receiving SMS is much easier, just one click.

* Santander x3 cards - never had a search for limit increases (every 6 months)* Sainsbury's Bank (once per annum)
* Creation (now stopped increases)
* Coop / Smile (on request - no search)
* Virgin Money (every 6 months)
* MBNA (all LBG)
* Amazon (NewDay)
So of all my accounts, and closed ones, I've never to date had a search for any increase request. Most are offered after 6 months automatically but others, you need to manually request such as -
* 1st Direct
* Coop / Smile
* Creation (stopped increases apparently)
* TSB
I've never had, or requested an increase on my 1st Direct or TSB as you simply can't do it online. Gotta call.Thanks, that's some useful info.I hate banks who always ask you to call them whenever you need something. Metro is exactly like that, so I don't use it for anything. It's the most useless bank I've ever had, just keeping the account for credit history and maybe switch in the future.I considered a TSB credit card in the past, but now I know I don't want it.

Thanks. I think last time I saw a cheque was like 7 years ago or so. I really don't miss such feature.
I never paid in any cash either. Where do you even get a lot of cash today? In my home country maybe, but in the UK? Everyone is doing everything via bank transfers. Anyway, who has Monzo (or any other app-only bank) as their only bank? I always tell everyone to have at least 2 bank accounts in different banks, just in case.

Fraudsters always know how banks work.
They don't need your secure key. They simply trick you and tell YOU to do all the job, so no matter how hard it is, you'll set up a new payee and pay them.
Some banks ask you something like "STOP! Do you think this could be a fraud?"
Then you need to confirm it's not a fraud and you want to carry on.

If you tried Halifax or Lloyds, I believe you would never go back to HSBC.EPICA - the best symphonic metal band in the world !1
