I've only scanned your thread, sorry, but have you tried calling EE and telling them that you are thinking of leaving and asking them to price-match the offer you have found.

I would recommend either Tuesday or Wednesday if it's possible for you.
I would say that the 'a few hours' advice here is possible, maybe even normally the case, but from first thing until after lunch is not impossible, even tea time is not unheard of.
That said OP porting is invaluable for getting better deals, so go for it. If Vodafone is OK in your area, then Lebara is worth a look. For example £4.90 for 3GB, £5.95 for 5GB or £6.95 for 10GB.'Just because its on the internet don't believe it 100%'. Abraham Lincoln.

Thank you for all these additional much appreciated replies. I'm going to ring EE and see what they say and will post back. 'Life', as it does, has become a bit busy so I may not do it immediately but I will look into all this soon.Again, many thanks.Crimson - Here is an update at 6.10 p.m. I telephoned EE and managed to get through. The person I spoke to put me on hold and spoke to a manager to explain re my Plusnet Existing customer offer. Unfortunately the cheapest fixed contract they could offer me was £8 per month.I'll be sorry to leave EE because I have been with them for so long, and with Orange before EE took them over. £2 per month increase (from October) is too big an increase.Once I have some 'proper' time to look at all the suggestions, very helpfully given here, including the Plusnet one, I'll be able to make a decision. EE have given me the PAC code and my contract with them ends mid October. They say I'll have an early termination fee of £4.75 to pay and, once paid, I can safely cancel my monthly DD to EE.Crimson0

I've ported my number about ten times over the past few years - done it twice in the past month or so and on both of the most recent ones it was all concluded by 9am the next day.1

Thanks jmn21. I had only thought about Plusnet because of their special offer for existing Broadband/Land line customers. I have, aftrer reading your helpful reply, looked at others in more detail.I think Vodafone is OK in my area and Lebara might be good for me. I'll look into it, thank you jmnCrimson

Thank you all very much for your encouragement and the helpful information and links given. Here is an update - just arranged today. I decided against Plusnet because it was going to be a 'rolling' one month contract and there was not a suitable fixed contract available.I looked again at all the information given here and became interested in jnm21's mention of Lebara. I tried EE on line chat and decided that it would be better to telephone EE. I had my PAC number and telephoned EE to check regarding my final bill and date etc. before contacting Lebara. As a result a very helpful EE person suggested a 'new' 'special retention' package for £8 per month for 18 months. Although it is more expensive than Plusnet and Libera, I was pleased to be offered' 18 months with quite a number of things including a much more suitable amount of GB and a good 'package' for me. I use very little GB on my mobile 'phone but it is good to have some when needed. There was no pressure from EE at all and, on thinking it through, this new EE package is much better and quite ideal for me. I now know where I stand with a much more favourable EE package than before and my contract, for 18 months, is really good for me to fit in with my 'budget. The person from EE was very good and I did not expect to be offered a better contract than before. It has worked out well for me.As always, I really do value all the help and information given here so freely. I have learned a lot. Thank you all very much.Crimson1
