    On iPhone you can add the barcode to Apple Wallet which will work without signal. 
    Not sure on Android but might be worth checking if there is the same functionality.

    Yep, this new scheme is far worse than the old scheme plus I have lost the value of my previous card points :(


    The old points were converted into the new beans, so how have you let them?
    The app tells me that my points were converted to beans - even though I hadn't been to a Costa for around a year (thanks to lockdown).  Added more beans at a motorway services last week so now have 2 coffee's worth to spend.  
    I need to think of something new here...
  • What about those of us who have old mobiles which can't download apps? Although you can use the card for adding points to your account you can only use the app to claim your free drinks.  I keep getting emails from costa encouraging me to claim my free drinks... but can't as I can't get the app!
    I'm feeling pretty disenfranchised by costa, do they expect me to go out and buy a new mobile or do they just not care about losing a loyal customer?

    I contacted them via message on-line, bland answer was "you can still use the card in store (as long as the card has been registered on-line)", they didn't say how you're supposed to USE the 'beans' for a freebie without the app, I didn't exactly ask that question, but took their answer to mean I could. (I do have the app, but find it a pain, I don't do banking via my mobile, so still have to get my purse out to pay cash or card).

    When Costa in-store told me I couldn't use the card after mid Oct, & customer services saying I CAN, if you've been told in-store that you can't claim your free drink without the app, I'd try insisting. If the card can 'collect' beans, then I don't see how they can say you cannot 'spend' beans with it.  They can add them on, so I don't believe they can't take them off! 

    I should have read T&C's before claiming first free drink (my fault), it's ANY size drink so somewhat wasted on a small latte.
    Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.
