  • Something quite strange has happened with my boyfriend's hotmail account - a message has been sent from his account to a very random selection of his contacts as if from ele, introducing themselves and asking people to look at their site.

Has anything like this happened to anyone else? And once someone has hacked into your account (if that's what's happened) can it be fixed?

Do you have money to throw away? Have enough reasons not already been given that it's most likely a scam site? Would you give your credit card details to a dodgy bloke selling stuff in the pub car park? Can you give a single good reason why you would use them?

Credit cards aren't any guarantee of protecting yourself, there are plenty of examples on this forum of people who've been denied protection by their credit card companies because they decided the customer was too reckless with their details and so it was their own fault.

By who? There are loads of actually known scam sites that stay up for ages. Exisoftware was up for absolutely ages selling pirate software (absolute fact because the software companies confirmed) but it took ages and reporting to many different people before it got shut down.
