If the Independent is to be believed, LFTs aren't going to be free for much longer.
"The government will end free provision of lateral flow tests within months in a move that has been criticised as “reckless” by public health chiefs.Plans to introduce charges for the tests were buried in the government’s Covid winter plan, which was unveiled earlier this week by Sajid Javid, the health secretary."
Who's going to pay for routine testing, if it's no longer free, unless they really have to?How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)2 -

Probably lots, if the public realise a charge is coming!! They'll probably end on Ebay undercutting the new charge!!
The actual wording from the governments Autumn/Winter plan was...(my bold)
"Rapid asymptomatic testing is an important tool to help reduce the spread of the virus, while supporting people to manage their own risk and the risks to others. The Government will therefore continue to provide the public with access to free lateral flow tests in the coming months. People may wish to use regular rapid testing to help manage periods of risk such as after close contact with others in a higher risk environment, or before spending prolonged time with a more vulnerable person. At a later stage, as the Government’s response to the virus changes, universal free provision of LFDs will end, and individuals and businesses using the tests will bear the cost. The Government will engage widely on the form of this model as it is developed, recognising that rapid testing could continue to have an important, ongoing role to play in future."
Make of that what you will. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -

And the government appears to believe that price rises will reduce consumption rather than increase deaths in the coming cold season

I personally find it hard to believe that the kits cost £10 to produce tbh, maybe that's their RRP.0 -

I am Fully Vaccinated Feb (1st dose) April (2nd dose) Oxford Jab, I am not big a fan of Lateral flow tests and don't really like doing them as I just worry that am gonna do it wrong or mess the test up/ worry i will get a positive result make me panic sometimes, I am very mildly Autistic so might be why, but once it's done and the result is negative I Feel allot calmer,
but I try to force myself to do lateral flow test before every league one home game at football or when I feel bit groggy/not feeling 100% and keep telling myself that it's for greater good to do it as know your safe to go out,
I know the % of you catching covid when double jabbed goes down after a while e.g few months etc but can't wait for Booster Jab to feel even more safer, will have it each year, I don't wanna get seriously ill
But will never pay for Lateral Flows test would rather spend that money on PS5 games lol0
