ReAssure have replaced insurance policy for a different one and won't refund money if I cancel

Options
I had  a Well woman insurance policy with ReAssure. Basically if you paid into the policy for 15 years without making a claim you got your money refunded at the end of the 15 year term. I received the pay out after 15 years and thought that was the end of it. But my monthly premiums continued to come out of my bank so I tried to call them, being in the middle of the pandemic this took me a long time to get through. When i finally did get through I was told that they automatically opened another policy to run for 15 years. I told them I didn't want it and they said I would loose all the money that had already been paid into the new policy. I asked if the policy was under the same terms as the old one and I was told by they operator that she didn't know, so I asked if they could send me some policy docs so that I could read up on the level of cover etc. I never received this and after some further months managed to get through to them again. The operator told me she could see that I had been in touch previously but also that no docs had been sent out. She agreed to send me new policy docs, I received 1 x  A4 sheet off them today and the terms are entirely different from before, it seems to be a standard insurance policy, nothing to do with womens health as per the original, the benefits are entirely different (including critical illness and income protection which the original didn't have) and you don't get any money back at the end of the term. ReAssure have told me if I cancel I won't get any of my money back - i have been making payments into it for 14 months now. Are they allowed to do this - automatically sign me up for an entirely different policy without asking me, informing me or sending me any policy information?

Do you still have documents from your original policy. Its likely to have been there where they would inform you that the would auto renew. And like a lot of us missed it and just signed to accept.
Not sure there's a lot you can do to be honest apart from sending in a complaint in writing.
    Keep copes of everything
You didn't see it for 14 months ?
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
