No refund just credit note, but wasn't warned about this

Tesco sell items cheaper in the Superstores than in the express stores.0

I genuinely don't understand this mentality.mrsmortgage said:But had I known there were no refunds, I probably wouldn't have bought it, and was never warned about it. And there's no receipt with the terms and conditions
If I buy something it's because I want it.1 -
Neither do I but over the past 30-40 years there has been an increasing response from the government to mollycoddle citizens rather than teach them how to fend for themselves.paulttt said:

Be it scams, purchases or whatever, people increasingly have decreasing responsibility for their actions.0 -
During covid, most shops have closed their changing rooms so even though you may want something, if it doesn't fit when you get home, the only alternative is to return it.paulttt said:

The important thing is to understand the refund/return policy of the shop you are doing business with.
Never assume that it will be the same as M&S, Next etc.2 -

There has never been an automatic right to return an item simply because you decide you don't want it - for whatever reason. Therefore there is no requirement to display anything to that effect. The shop is actually doing the OP a favour by even offering a credit note.

Well actually that's what happened. So she did say "I'll put the price here in case there's any issue" so she made it clear there was a change of mind, but never clarified it would be store credit.Aylesbury_Duck said:As above, if it was an in-store purchase and their policy for a change of mind return is vouchers/credit, then that's the position and your card company won't be able to help. The shop isn't detracting from your statutory consumer rights and they haven't misled you.
If their policy allows a change of mind return and they didn't make clear you would get credit, then that's misleading by omission, but it sounds like they've not done that.
"In case there is any issue" means if the item is faulty and/or not fit for purpose", nothing more.
