Teletext Holiday Refund

Hi, just wondering if anybody has heard anything regarding the refunds from teletext Holidays. The had agreed to repay all refunds by the end of August 2021, as promised to the CMA, however they have not refunded anything and are now talking about another two weeks. They have agreed, verbally, that they have had the refund from the airlines and the hotels but are not refunding peoples money yet. Has anyone heard if the CMA will be getting involved again and are they insured as we paid by bank card not credit card?

any help and advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers

You should contact the CMA and tell them they are in breach of their undertakings to refund. They have been (one of ) the worst travel company to deal with for years and effectively operate from India and have very few staff based here. If you paid by debit rather than credit card you only have 120 days to make a chargeback claim, it is not clear how long ago you booked or were due to travel but if either of those dates is within the last 4 months then contact your bank immediately.

It seems the 'two weeks ahead' never ends, and if you don't act they will string you along as long as you let them

I wonder when their ATOL is due for renewal...
  • Definitely go for a chargeback if you can.
  • Westin, in two weeks time, if they are lucky!

If you paid by credit card, you may be able to claim but if you collected funds from others in the group, who therefore did not pay by card, there is a strong possibility a refund will only be offered for you and anyone within your family group. Teletext are not an ABTA member so you cannot use their resolution scheme so you may end up in legal action. Do at least report the issue to the CMA as it appears the company may be in breach of the undertakings it has given

Thank you for the above information. On the Teletext website, it states that they are ATOL protected we are going to try that route as well as the CMA route.

not sure ATOL is relevant for your situation

ATOL stops you losing money or becoming stranded abroad if the travel business you booked with collapses:

    • If the business ceases trading while you are on holiday, the scheme will provide support to minimise disruption to your holiday.
    • If the business collapses before you travel, the scheme will provide a refund or replacement holiday.

ATOL cannot help you unless they go bust. They do not interfere with how a company treats its customers. Do report to the CMA as the evidence is piling up that they are not refunding as they legally agreed with the CMA to do
