Is that £200 towards your EF then or was it already budgeted?

On the upside, you know what is wrong and repairs are much cheaper than replacements. I thought £113 for two elements was a bit of a bargain, especially when compared with a new oven.
Spotting a leaking tap before it seizes the cartridge inside reduces the cost dramatically. Our kitchen sink has an unremovable replaceable cartridge. The grub screw has seized. I knew nothing of these new fangled cartridge taps back then when I bought it. The cost of the replacement cartridge £40, vs the replacement tap £300 (still in its box, waiting for me to feel up to changing it. My semi retired plumber neighbour knows he is on standby. Today's excuse is that he is at the Leeds game, so not near enough to help me if it all goes wrongSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

I have tried to change a cartridge before but am not successful at DIY. My skill is budgeting to afford the services of someone who isJob application nearly ready. I didn't start it until today after Mrs E went for a 5-hour lunch that led to a massive argument
We've since had a grown up discussion about it, it will be ok 👍
Edit: Job application finished.
Trying to do month end finances from August (late). It looks like we're c. £20,000 up after the bank offered us a higher valuation than had previously been the case (lower than we thought was fair but will probably be accurate by the time house prices continue falling for the foreseeable)... It's all academic and I'm not celebrating it - "strict" NW fell by c. £8,000 (SIPPs and cash on hand).Edit the 2nd: Since I have a little unexpected free time, I've been trying to put it to good use. Anniversary gift, card and birthday present ordered for Mrs E, have asked my rentals if they can babysit for a little bit on the day. Having reviewed our finances, the cheapest way to continue our Big River subscription appears to be to bundle it with our monthly Oh2 bill (c. £84 a year vs. £95 paying for it as an annual cost). That could work, plus it would free up over £100 as I've already saved £115 to cover it when it expires in a few days).10 -
Sounds like a win. on the P saving.

@savingholmes - that's us passed the £500 mark for EF, closer to £700. Child Benefit + £107 moved from big river pot + a small amount of interest from a closed savings account£5.14 withdrawn from Prolific, I only have pennies in there now2nd and final birthday present purchased for Mrs E (colourful trainers she had had her eye on for about a year that never seem to be reduced with the exception of yesterday). I may also have purchased a Christmas candle from my personal spends account. For context, I really struggle with the darker days of winter and the smell of a nice candle gets me through the spell October - Christmas holidays. The one I purchased last year lasted to within an hour of my annual leave starting, with no particular planning on my part.7

Month end finances were missing Mrs E's current workplace pension! Actual result was +£25,000 for the month, "strict" NW down by a more reasonable £2,000.
