£11.36 paid into my LISA - was meant to be £5.68 but Dodl can sometimes be a bit "sticky" and not refresh soon enough - making you think your transaction hasn't gone throughDD2 has had a rough night, waking every hour. DD1 got in on the action and joined us at midnight as she'd had a particularly scary nightmare. Both seem to be much better this morning, so I'm back to work, which was unexpected. Just power through 'til 4I am a little conflicted. I have been offered an interview for a second post with the same organisation but have still not heard back from the first interview (just over a fortnight ago). I have tried to force the issue by asking HR for a status update under the guise of not wanting to muck them around if they want to offer me the first job
On the other hand, I had forgotten just how slow "gummint proper" can be, I would be mortified if I was the recruiting manager and made a successful candidate wait more than a fortnight after interview with no update of any kind... Am I just being fragile?

There's a chance someone has been offered an interview but can't be seen yet as away on holiday, off sick etc. (In the old days you would just have missed out but nowadays that might bring somebody's mum in to complain so everyone else has to wait.) Might not be that, but that has happened in our experience. Oh once had to wait about 2 months for another interviwee to return from sick leave.
Like you when interviewing I wanted to make the decision immediately and get back to everyone next day at latest. Couldn't stand working with someone 'too busy' to make decision, "let's meet end next week to discuss", no let's do it now grrrrr.
As interviewee it does make you concerned what you might be joining if they can't get their act together enough to get back to people but its usually fine. Sometimes by the time they get back to tell you yes or not you've almost forgotten which job it was. My best one was where they phoned me as I got in the door coming back from the interview.
Fingers crossed

I'd go for the other interview. Nothing to lose at this point and you could end up with 2 offers.

I also would go for the other interview, nothing ventured and all that.
I am also trying to be on the wagon or at least limit the drinking to get my slight extra winter layer offI know when alcohol is in your body you don't burn fat (as your liver is busy processing the alcohol first) but some social occasions are very hard to say no to a free cocktail or nice glass of wine
DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Yep, me too. You're not being fragile, I'd rather have some kind of update within a fortnight (even if just 'please bear with us, a key decision maker is off sick'). At least if you go to the 2nd interview and get offered the job, you can go back to the first and tell them to make a decision NOW or you'll take the other one! Win win!7

So, after several emails today it transpired that I hadn't got the first job but that I was on a list essentially if the prime candidate dropped out (so I was good but not quite good enough).
They claimed to have emailed me about this last week but there's no trace of the email, I didn't delete it and it didn't go to spam.
I view it as borderline insulting to take over 95 minutes of someone's time for a relatively senior role and to (not) let them know they were unsuccessful via a template email. It's a !!!!!! way to conduct a business, I showed significantly more courtesy to my latest unsuccessful candidates and I can be a lazy sod.
I want no part of an organisation where that's normal, I withdrew my second application
I received detailed feedback and it was generally very positive. I'll build on that and find another job for an organisation with better manners that can offer me a similar wage for the same hours as I currently work.10 -
Sorry to hear you didn't get the post, sounds like you've made the right choice. Sorry you didn't get it, how very annoying to not let you know. A waste of your time - I think it's basic courtesy to let anyone know the outcome after an interview, whether senior role or not. After all, it's rare that SO many people are interviewed that it's impractical. Grrr!6
