Big hugs Ed, that's a lot to deal with. Hope all your various ailments are dealt with soon, and that you're all feeling better very quickly. Physical discomfort makes everything else harder to deal with too.
I'm joining the band of folk saying please don't feel like you only have to post when things are going well. Plenty of us here moan all the time 😁 Seriously, if it helps you to post and have people cheer you on, then by all means, fire away. If not, then don't, we'll stillbe here when you're ready to come back

Sorry things are tough but vent on here - it's what this place is for. Connecting with others helps you then refocus and crack on. Sometimes as I vent solutions present themselves but I needed to get the vent out of my system first.
On the ibuprofen - for anyone taking it long term - you need the doctor to provide a second tablet to help your stomach like omeprazole.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

If you do take omeprazole do read the side effects as one can cause the exact same thing as it is supposed to clear.

@Karmacat - ach - not too bad.Did an hour of overtime this morning, took DD2 out for a walk (she's not talking yet @South_coast you wag
) Hoovered the whole house and the couches (takes longer with an extra storey), cleaned the bamboo floors and mopped the bathroom and kitchen. Mrs E joined in and wiped all the kitchen unit fronts, somewhat speckled with our coffee throwing exploits. Took DD1 to and from school, to and from swimming and am now looking forward to doing as little as possible this evening.
Mrs E and DD2 sounding and feeling a lot better, although I have a slight temperature. Fingers crossed it's not my turn. Covid-dependant we have family events on Saturday and Sunday.Made my usual PAD of £2.40 into my SIPP (£3 after tax relief). I manage to do this most days. Completed a few surveys on Prolific, 1 on YouGov and will try for one on the other platform I've momentarily forgotten the name of tonight. Withdrew £5.05 from Prolific and spent a bit of time coaching a sibling who has joined up as well.
Probiotic hasn't disagreed with me, a slightly sore stomach this morning but probably has as much to do with an overly large dinner as anything else.
Edit: I do have Covid again - boo!5 -
Sorry to hear the lurgy's got you again, Ed. Definitely sounds like you need to be horizontal, which isn't as easy as it could be now you've two littlies. Good luck with it.2023: the year I get to buy a car6

I took massive (2x600mg) pink ibuprofen every day for eight years with no stomach protection and then reduced them to "as needed" of my own volition. The A&E Doctor I subsequently saw suggested my GP needed to change my repeat prescription to codeine, only when needed (which they did). His other advice was if I ever took them again, don't do so on an empty stomach. I didn't share that I always had.
I don't believe I am Captain Scarlet but equally, we are all different. I would be surprised if your short term taking ibuprofen is causing you damage. My solution to stomach pains is to eat plenty of yogurt, preferably thick, and no sweeteners or flavours. A great simple stomach calmer in my view, for what it is worth. I eat whole milk yogurt but non dairy if needs be.
As my former (Indian) GP suggested, a couple of days fasting and then one or two really bland, simple foods, introduced gradually, will sort out anything diet-derived. Sadly, the exclusion of anything sweet, caffeine or yeast containing, are key to this. At least after this you can tell the doctors what you have tried if it persists. Feel free to ignore me.
Oh yes, are you using a daylight bulb? I find they help with mood at this dark time of year. Wishing you all well xSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

I withdrew my application for the boss job - the anxiety about the challenge that it presented was massively overwhelming the attraction of more money if I got it. I think it was the right decision - felt like a weight had been lifted the moment I made the decision
I didn't want the stress, didn't want unpaid overtime and didn't want to become an ogre to my family
I end the year feeling completely burned out but also strangely optimistic as I consider what I could do for a job that might actually make me happy. A friend has suggested I complete an introduction to coding course, think I'll give that a go in the New Year. It's all Greek to me but I'm not afraid of a computer per se and have certainly worked in IT (if not as an IT guy).Technically on holiday now but will have to log in tomorrow to try and sort out a SNAFU. This sort of thing is why I fancy leaving the public sector.Feeling a bit like I'm lacking anchor after quitting my exercise class and mentally uncoupling from the prospect of trying to take my career in data protection further. I think it will just take time to realise that I've made these decisions for positive reasons and to realise the benefits of a wee bit more free time. Looking forward to unwinding over Christmas.7 -
It is a good thing to know yourself & to know that even if you know you can do it that does not make it the job for you (or your family). Something else will be waiting for you that will fulfill both requirements. I can tell from your posts that your family is of prime importance to you, money is nice, lots of money is even nicer, but the price of that can be way too high.
