Are Morgan Computers still going?  Their business IIRC was shifting old stock/refurbs.

Did you abandon your "top end pc" (without dedicated graphics)  purchase last Nov?

With a bit more information on what you are after with use cases someone could point you to something suitable.

If you are unlikely to be doing major upgrades with most more recent on board graphics that can cope with most basic user stuff and light gaming/editing you could get a perfectly good base for under £300 that would have plenty of life in it.

Yes I did abandon lol. It was gonna cost me like £1.2k, it was the latest XPS then. I decided in the end not to buy it as it would have sort of been an impulse buy as I didn't really need one urgently. Even now I don't need one urgently, but my laptop is almost nearing it's time. I am just exploring ideas.

I am in the transition of having used to always buy the latest mobile phone and the latest PCs, and now just thinking is there any point? Buying last generation works just as good and you probably save a chunk by not paying the new release premium. My next phone I am planning also not to buy latest gen.

I think I will set my budget for maybe £700-£800, that sounds reasonable for an upper average PC I think.

My minimum specs probably will be:

    1TB HDD
    512GB SDD
    8GB RAM
    Processor (upper average, Quadcore?)
Medium graphics card, like Nvidia 1000(?) range (like two generations back) maybe
    USB, USBC, HDMI ports
Ideally also want a quiet-ish PC that is coolish (very technical terms there)

Something like that. Realistically, I am going to be buying one in the coming Cyber Monday sales, so doing some pre-planning to find the right one. Ill be getting a double whammy, last gen and cyber monday discount :P

Do you really need the graphics card?

The current integrated options are very capable.

You also seem to be limiting to high street supply chain and mass brands where the system builders often offer better value.

Have a look through these options with a gt1650.
