Slab of marble

I had my old fireplace ripped out and the only thing that had any value in retaining was the slab of marble that formed the hearth.
Perhaps I am lacking in imagination but I cannot think of any viable uses for it around the home - help me out here? Otherwise I'll stick it on Freecycle. (It feels wrong to skip it).

It depends on the thickness, but I've seen it used for basin splashbacks, shelves, and chopping boards.
Couldn't abide it for a board myself.1 -
Cut to size would make cooling shelves for a larder area.Play with the expectation of winning not the fear of failure. S.Clarke1

We’ve had worktop cut offs made the right size for side tables, and replaced the existing wooden tops with it. Also good for chopping boards, shelves, bathroom worktop (if you have the right size), small window cill etc.1

Marble is very good for working pasty on as it generally remains cold. I suspect a marble hearth will be a little large for that purpose, apart from in a bakery.

I did think of kitchen slabs, but the 2 things that put me off are the weight of the pieces, and the costs of getting a professional to cut and polish (no sharp or jagged edges required).
Any uses in the garden? Or somewhere they don't have to be moved around a lot? I have an electric fire and I suppose I could stick it under that.No man is worth crawling on this earth.

If you bake bread or pizza then it might be handy as a baking stone. We've a double oven so the slab never leaves one of them.1

I bought a slab to put under my electric fire when moving because it would be sitting directly on carpet otherwise.
But it was too heavy to move for cleaning so I've replaced with tiles.
I paid a lot for my marble pastry board and its great for that - but lifting it to the sink to clean is a nightmare so it's decoration only now to look cheffy.
In the garden it would be slippery with the smallest amount of moisture.
I'll probably give mine back to the reclamation yard that sold it to me.
But I know for ages I wanted some, for what I can't remember and no offcuts to be had. So someone will love it.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on

Could you turn it into a table in the garden, or perhaps a coffee or console table in the house?

I eventually stuck it on Freecycle - it went in a matter of minutes. No man is worth crawling on this earth.
