Dish washer rack - repair broken prong

I have a broken prong on the dish washer. It's too short to fit a replacement cap over it. From what i have gathered, i will need to sand down the rust and re-apply some vinyl coating.
Can anyone please recommend which vinyl coating I can use? When i search for dishwasher vinyl coating, there seems to be just the Performix ReRack brand, of which the public opinions are very mixed.
Can I use any vinyl coating or does it need to be dishwasher specific?

I would use silicone sealant, not vinyl. Mainly because it is useful elsewhere and easily available.

I'd use some epoxi compound.

I'd use a ball of 2 part epoxy 'plastic weld' , but only as i have some in the drawer at home2

I've seen dishwasher racks mended with that sugru mouldable compound and here is their page on how to do it.
